Piccolo Giro di Lombardia: the new features of the 2020 route
2020-09-22

Piccolo Giro di Lombardia, an international cycling classic for the Under 23 category, scheduled in Oggiono (Lecco) on Sunday, October 4, 2020, proposes again this year a fascinating and very demanding route.

The route designed by Velo Club Oggiono presents in this season some novelties in its initial part. In fact, the organizers, also to simplify bureaucratic procedures in this delicate moment, have decided to remove the passages in the provinces of Bergamo and Monza Brianza, inserting three laps of a shorter circuit around the area of Oggionese with three times the climb of Sirtori.

The final, on the other hand, remains unchanged, the one that in recent years has always given a spectacle. Then confirmed the legendary climb to Ghisallo (after about 128 km) and then, in sequence, first the short climb of "Villa Vergano" that leads to Colle Brianza, then the Marconaga di Ello that will most likely be the points where the race will be decided also this year and that will bring out the name of a new winner.

The meeting for the preliminary operations and the licence check is scheduled from 8 a.m. at the headquarters of the Banca BCC Brianza e Laghi in via Lazzaretto 15/A in Oggiono. The presentation of all participating teams will follow from 10.30 am. The official departure will be given in Viale Vittoria at 12 noon.
In total the competitors will have to cover 177,7 km. The finish is expected around 4pm in Oggiono.

The president of the Velo Club Oggiono Daniele Fumagalli said: "These are hectic days, preparations are underway and with little time available we are working out all the details to offer participants and the public again this year an event of the highest level. As always, we have a very large presence of foreign teams, the best in the world, and a representation of the best Italian teams. We hope that the weather will also assist us on 4 October".

The list of participating teams is still being defined and will be released next week.
