2023-10-01

William Junior Lecerf signs the 95th edition of the LombardiaU23. From one Belgian to another: Lecerf succeeds his compatriot Alec Segaert in the roll of honour today. Born in 2002 in Halle, bearer of the Soudal Quick Step Development, the young Belgian triumphs at the sprint ahead of his breakaway companion the Irishman Archie Ryan (Jumbo Visma) true dominator in the climb with the passage in first position both on Ghisallo and Colle Brianza. The other Belgian Ramses Debruyne (Lotto Dstny) closes the podium, fourth is the vice-world champion Morgado, fifth the Dutch Graat, sixth a very good and combative Galimberti of Biesse Carrera first of our guys.

THE CHRONICLE 141 riders representing 30 teams, 18 foreign and 12 Italian, set off from Oggiono. The first action develops at kilometre 7 at the hands of 13 riders: the Dutch Huising (Jumbo Visma) and Reinderink (Soudal Quick Step Devo), the French Gruel (Groupama FDJ) and Magnier (Trinity Racing), the Trentino Iacomoni (Sias Rime Cicli Drali), the British Askey (Groupama FDJ) and Smith (Trinity Racing), the Belgians Detalle (Bingoal) and Debaele (Basso Flanders), the Portuguese Morgado vice world champion, the Dane Andersen (Hagens Berman Axeon), the Israeli Raisberg (Israel Premier Tech Academy) and the Swiss Markwalder (Velo Club Mendrisio). Maximum advantage of 2'50" on the group. On Ghisallo the leading group breaks up and in front there are 8 riders on which come Crommelinck, Graat, Van Bekkum, Nerurkar, Lecerf, Maris, Debruyne, Francesco Galimberti (Biesse Carrera), Diego Bracalente (Colpack Ballan CSB), the Eritrean Araya and the Irish Ryan (Jumbo Visma) who passes first on the GPM of Ghisallo. Towards the return to Oggiono try Galimberti, Huising, Graat, Debruyne and Magnier immediately hooked by the Irishman Ryan. And it is precisely the Irishman of Jumbo Visma who takes off on Colle Brianza with Galimberti who tries to follow but to no avail. The Belgian Lecerf (Soudal Quick Step Devo) caught up with the breakaway, while a quartet of Galimberti, Debruyne, Morgando and Graat formed behind them. A two-man final with Lecerf overtaking Ryan in the finishing straight: third was the Belgian Debruyne to complete the podium of Lombardia U23. Sixth place, and first of the Italians, a generous Francesco Galimberti.
