The LombardiaU23 is a challenge at the top, requiring strength and courage. Without detracting from the other competitions on the Italian international calendar, it is the classic par excellence. Participating is not an obligation, but we believe it is a duty to show courage and performance in these races for all Italian teams. The foreign prevalence is now a fact, but it does not explain why only seven of the 13 Continentals will be at the start in Oggiono. Everyone is free to make their own choices, but for the status this race has, it deserves respect.
On Sunday 1 October, therefore, Il Lombardia U23 number 95 will be run. Start and finish in Oggiono, with the climbs to Ghisallo, from the toughest slope of Bellagio, followed by Villa Vergano-Colle Brianza (14% gradient) and the final surge to Marconaga di Ello (km 1.800) just 5.2 kilometres from the nosedive towards the finish line. A total of 170 kilometres.
THE PROGRAMME The start meeting is set at the new headquarters of the Velo Club Oggiono in Via Papa Paolo IV, no. 5 at 8.00 am. Unofficial start at 11.55 am. Transfer of 1700 metres for the official start. Arrival in Viale Vittoria in Oggiono (Lecco).
